Q: What is Probate?

Probate is when the Court supervises the process that transfers legal title of property from the estate of the person who has died to his or her beneficiaries.

If the person who has passed did not have any property to transfer, probate is usually not necessary.

On a fairly simple estate it will take four to six months.  Most complicated estates will take longer.

If there are assets the estate still needs to be administered.
